Wrapping Cloth

Wrapping Cloth

Inner Child

It's January and I've spent the last few months taking an on-line course from Karen Ruane who lives in England. This cloth is the result of that course. The course was on a wrapping cloth that would be used to swaddle a new born child. Being well past the age of child bearing and with no great- grandchildren on the horizon I decided to instead make a cloth for my Inner child.

This panel with the O's represents hugs with a hidden hug in a pocket held in place with the small red button. The pocket above lined with buttons is divided into four sections for gathering all those childhood treasures.

This panel represents seeds - unborn dreams depicted by using seed beads. Another pocket with small buttons sewn across it and red stars depicting the dreams bursting into reality.

This panel has a picket fence with flowers and Suffolk puffs, also lace with four leaf clovers.

This panel has a wide band for the wrapping part also a row of life savers represented by the seed stitching wrapped around cording.

This is my edging using beads which represent childhood tears - lots of beads for lots of tears.

Another picture showing the panels sewn together and embellished with bullion knots.
The finished cloth measures 12 X 60 inches.
